Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger's contribution to the Hip Hop subculture will always be one to remember because of the impact and publicity Tommy Hilfiger has shown over the years. Tommy Hilfiger clothing during the 1990's was made for the white higher class status Americans that could afford preppy polos or nice sportswear polos and shorts or maybe even an all white suit. Hip hop as a subculture is always inspired by trend if one great person is wearing something everyone has to wear it!Its been reported that Snoop Dogg wore a Tommy Hilfiger sweatshirt during a appearance on a show Saturday night live and it was reported that the shirt sold out the next day this shows that Hip Hop artist can create a big impact in endorsing different fashion designers clothes because once its popular everyone wants to be part of a trend. Also Tommy Hilfiger has inspired my subculture because a lot of rappers of the past and today can afford the finer things in life. Bronx is one of the poorest cities in America and the Birth of Hip Hop evolved from there but that didn't stop people from buying Tommy Hilfiger because even if you couldn't afford the real thing people would go and buy a knock off version just to get a satisfaction that they are apart of the subculture. Tommy Hilfiger's exclusivity to over-sized , preppy and sportswear clothing made black people from the hip hop subculture aspire to own something that white higher class Americans own so that they can gain the satisfaction to show wealth. During the 90s many people from the hip hop subculture were always wearing over sized clothing that was two sizes or even three sizes bigger than their normal size and because Tommy Hilfiger was a sportswear designer clothes were produced in a range different sizes for different figures , curves and different body types this was a good thing for the hip hop subculture because that meant people from the hip hop subculture could wear Tommy Hilfiger clothing because the clothes came out a lot baggy which was good for some americans as the food in hip hop subculture revolved around fast food such as mc donalds , kfc and burger king which has lead to obesity and obese people from the subculture could also find their sizes .Many Famous Hip Hop artists such as Snoop Dogg , Aaliyah and Destiny child's have been seen sporting Tommy Hilfiger during the 90's which has inspired the hip hop subculture as a whole to indulge in the blue white and red Tommy Hilfiger trend.
