Versace

Versace is one of the top Fashion houses in Italy and all over the world today but has been inspired by the hip hop subculture to produce these long silky shirts , baroque tapestry style prints , Heavy Gold medallions, blacked shades. In the 90s Famous Artist Tupac Shakur became close friends with Gianni Versace and would have custom made pieces just from him only and would often get invited to exclusive fashion shows held by versace. In the spring/summer 1996 in milian fashion week this collection had hip hop music playing on the catwalk this was mostly likely to be inspired by the hip hop movement and Gianni's close friendship with tupac so by having hip hop music playing showed during the 90s versace was inspired by hip hop music movement at the time because many hip hop celebrities showered themeselves in versace and because of the inspiration of hip hop the popular music genre was played on their catwalk , In spring summer 1991 bright colours and graffiti prints was worn during the catwalk and the colours were so bright ranging from neon hot pink to neon yellow to dark blue , yellows and checkered prints with a hint of grafitti writing all in one dress or different pieces of garments when i saw the clothes i thought of fresh prince of bel air because the hip hop commedy sequel often had will smith the star of the show in brightly coloured bomber jackets and latex shorts , during the summer in the 90s is was all about a pop of colour with different prints and i could tell that versace was inspired during the 90s by hip hop because of the colour trend at the time and they also had reggae music playing in their spring summer 1991 catwalk you could also related reggae music to hip hop because hip hop spun off reggae from the change of beats , rhythm and sound. In 1996 Gianni had his one and only close friend tupac walk in one of his spring summer 1996 catwalk clothes tupac was dressed head to toe in a gold silky versace suit with a versace print and had his music play on the catwalk, tupac was escorted down the catwalk with two body guards and his girlfriend this was because of tupac's rap controversy , arguments and fights with other hiphop artist.

Tommy Hilfiger

Tommy Hilfiger's contribution to the Hip Hop subculture will always be one to remember because of the impact and publicity Tommy Hilfiger has shown over the years. Tommy Hilfiger clothing during the 1990's was made for the white higher class status Americans that could afford preppy polos or nice sportswear polos and shorts or maybe even an all white suit. Hip hop as a subculture is always inspired by trend if one great person is wearing something everyone has to wear it!Its been reported that Snoop Dogg wore a Tommy Hilfiger sweatshirt during a appearance on a show Saturday night live and it was reported that the shirt sold out the next day this shows that Hip Hop artist can create a big impact in endorsing different fashion designers clothes because once its popular everyone wants to be part of a trend. Also Tommy Hilfiger has inspired my subculture because a lot of rappers of the past and today can afford the finer things in life. Bronx is one of the poorest cities in America and the Birth of Hip Hop evolved from there but that didn't stop people from buying Tommy Hilfiger because even if you couldn't afford the real thing people would go and buy a knock off version just to get a satisfaction that they are apart of the subculture. Tommy Hilfiger's exclusivity to over-sized , preppy and sportswear clothing made black people from the hip hop subculture aspire to own something that white higher class Americans own so that they can gain the satisfaction to show wealth. During the 90s many people from the hip hop subculture were always wearing over sized clothing that was two sizes or even three sizes bigger than their normal size and because Tommy Hilfiger was a sportswear designer clothes were produced in a range different sizes for different figures , curves and different body types this was a good thing for the hip hop subculture because that meant people from the hip hop subculture could wear Tommy Hilfiger clothing because the clothes came out a lot baggy which was good for some americans as the food in hip hop subculture revolved around fast food such as mc donalds , kfc and burger king which has lead to obesity and obese people from the subculture could also find their sizes .Many Famous Hip Hop artists such as Snoop Dogg , Aaliyah and Destiny child's have been seen sporting Tommy Hilfiger during the 90's which has inspired the hip hop subculture as a whole to indulge in the blue white and red Tommy Hilfiger trend.
